Oh no! I have noticed that when the since is extremely tarnished, the ketchup is less effective. And this has gotten a little worse over time since I don’t clean it as often. I’m gonna try a commercial grade sealer soon. I do love Barkeeper’s friend. It is so reliable. Thanks for the comments!

First I used Barkeeper’s Friend, the liquid version, and it did a pretty good job. Just a couple of darker areas. So then I put ketchup all over the bottom of the sink and let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinsed it off. Not only wasn’t it shiny and bright, but it was worse than before I started — a couple of very dark streaks. So I got out the Barkeeper’s Friend and did that again and now it’s nice and shiny.

Hi Karen. Thanks for stopping by. I use a sealer available at Sinkology as they are the manufacturer and sell online. It works reaonsably well. You just have to keep up with it and reapply.
