<p><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-13255 aligncenter" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-40V-chainsaw.jpg" alt="" width="403" height="328" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-40V-chainsaw.jpg 671w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-40V-chainsaw-300x244.jpg 300w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-40V-chainsaw-545x443.jpg 545w" sizes="(max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px" /></p>
<p>We are lucky to have mature trees in our yard.&nbsp; When our house was built, the original owner grabbed trees from the local woods and planted them on the property.&nbsp; When we first moved in, 20 years ago, our yard was the only one in the neighborhood with trees offering some privacy in the yard.&nbsp; Over the years, these trees have thrived.&nbsp; The pine trees are enormous!&nbsp; Here is a photo of the back yard from last summer with all of the trees in full bloom.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-13055" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-summer.jpg" alt="" width="828" height="621" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-summer.jpg 828w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-summer-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-summer-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-summer-500x375.jpg 500w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-summer-360x270.jpg 360w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-summer-200x150.jpg 200w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-summer-545x409.jpg 545w" sizes="(max-width: 828px) 100vw, 828px" /></p>
<p>Read about the Vintage Bicycle Upcycle <a href="https://www.shopatblu.com/vintage-bicycle-upcycle/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HERE</a>.</p>
<p>Last year, we noticed that some of the topsoil in the yard was washing away when heavy rains occurred.&nbsp; The lack of sun to the grass is partially responsible.&nbsp; In the photo above, this is the area that is shaded beneath the trees.&nbsp; The tree canopy is so thick that the grass no longer gets proper sun.&nbsp; So it has died off, leading to the washing away of the top soil.&nbsp; You can see all of the bare spots in the photos below.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-13253 aligncenter" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-dead-grass.jpg" alt="" width="900" height="734" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-dead-grass.jpg 900w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-dead-grass-300x245.jpg 300w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-dead-grass-768x626.jpg 768w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-dead-grass-545x444.jpg 545w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" />There are three areas in the yard and one area in the front yard that need attention.&nbsp; It is time for some tree trimming!&nbsp; Let the sun shine in!</p>
<h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Ryobi to the Rescue</strong></span></h4>
<p>I reached out to my favorite tool vendor, Ryobi (pronounced REE-OH-BEE).&nbsp; Ryobi kindly sent me their <a href="https://rstyle.me/+184F4jqnIPkV_vLnlFQVIQ" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">40V Brushless 18&#8243; chainsaw</a> and an 18V One+ 8&#8243; Cultivator kit which contained both the&nbsp; <a href="https://rstyle.me/+Mw74CKavRdivaWIDAMCyVQ" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Garden tiller</a> and the Edger.&nbsp; These were the perfect tools for shaping up the yard.&nbsp; This post highlights the chainsaw.&nbsp; I will be highlighting the Cultivator kit next as we prep our vegetable garden and flower beds.</p>
<p>You might know Ryobi from seeing their neon green tools at the Home Depot.&nbsp; Ryobi is know for their cordless battery operated power and yard tools.&nbsp; They have a variety of battery sizes, the newest being their 80V tools coming soon.&nbsp; There are 260 tools that are part of the ONE+ line.&nbsp; I am amazed at the power of the 40V line.&nbsp; You can see their entire selection at <a href="https://www.ryobitools.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ryobitools.com</a>.</p>
<p>My first experience with Ryobi was at the <a href="https://havenconference.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Haven Conference</a> in 2014.&nbsp; Ryobi was a sponsor and I believe they have sponsored Haven, my favorite DIY and Blogging conference, ever since.&nbsp; I&#8217;ve been building my supply of Ryobi tools since my first Haven when I won a cordless drill!&nbsp; I&#8217;m obsessed with their battery operated tools.&nbsp; All cordless, the Airstrike nailer, Airstrike stapler, caulk gun, power light, glue gun, rotary cutter, string trimmer, heat gun, jigsaw are a few of my favorites and I&#8217;m sure I&#8217;m missing a few.&nbsp; If you are a home owner, a new DIY&#8217;er or and experienced craftsperson, Ryobi has something for you!</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-13252 aligncenter" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-products.jpg" alt="" width="1253" height="743" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-products.jpg 1253w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-products-300x178.jpg 300w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-products-1024x607.jpg 1024w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-products-768x455.jpg 768w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-products-545x323.jpg 545w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1253px) 100vw, 1253px" /></p>
<p>Last year, I purchased a <a href="https://rstyle.me/+1h_I6pKLuye1HRtU1RvJgA" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Ryobi pole saw</a>.&nbsp; This enabled me to trim the lowest lying branches around the yard.&nbsp; And this did help.&nbsp; But I needed to make some serious reduction to the middle branches.&nbsp; My plan is to completely top off most of the trees in the back yard and one large tree in the front yard.&nbsp; The massive pine trees in the middle are probably 75 feet tall.&nbsp; Given this height and the size of the trunks, we will leave these mature pine trees for the professionals sometime in the future.&nbsp; The other trees are also tall but branches are much thinner.&nbsp; I will trim what I can with my Ryobi tools and perhaps rent a lift of some sort so that I can safely use the chain to trim the higher branches.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-12940 aligncenter" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/the-blue-building-shopatblu-spring-garden-prep-Ryobi-pole-saw.jpg" alt="Shopatblu Spring ryobi pole saw kit" width="380" height="356" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/the-blue-building-shopatblu-spring-garden-prep-Ryobi-pole-saw.jpg 649w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/the-blue-building-shopatblu-spring-garden-prep-Ryobi-pole-saw-300x281.jpg 300w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/the-blue-building-shopatblu-spring-garden-prep-Ryobi-pole-saw-545x511.jpg 545w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px" /></p>
<p>Here is the back yard as photographed in early March, post winter and pre spring.&nbsp; Just look at the size of those pine trees in the center.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-13237 aligncenter" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-rear-yard-fall.jpg" alt="shopatblu the blue building antiques fall rear yard" width="650" height="488" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-rear-yard-fall.jpg 650w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-rear-yard-fall-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-rear-yard-fall-500x375.jpg 500w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-rear-yard-fall-360x270.jpg 360w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-rear-yard-fall-200x150.jpg 200w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-rear-yard-fall-545x409.jpg 545w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px" /></p>
<p>Here is a closer look at the bare areas beneath the trees.&nbsp; You can see the exposed roots.&nbsp; I walk our dog back here so this is a potential tripping hazard for me on any given day but especially in the fall when leaves are covering the ground.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class=" wp-image-13052 aligncenter" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-tree-roots-path.jpg" alt="" width="348" height="465" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-tree-roots-path.jpg 650w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-tree-roots-path-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-tree-roots-path-545x727.jpg 545w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 348px) 100vw, 348px" /></p>
<p>The first area of attention is the area surrounding shed.&nbsp; Here is a before photo of the area.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-13238 aligncenter" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-shed.jpg" alt="" width="539" height="650" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-shed.jpg 539w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/the-blue-building-shopatblu-ryobi-treeline-shed-249x300.jpg 249w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 539px) 100vw, 539px" /></p>
<p>I started by trimming the lowest branches with my Ryobi pole saw.&nbsp; This tool extends to 9.5 feet and is quite effective on trimming smaller branches and limbs.&nbsp; Always take caution not to stand directly under the limb while cutting so that you are not struck with the falling limb.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>For larger limbs, I used my new Ryobi 18&#8243; chain saw.&nbsp; Since many of these trees are quite tall, I had to carefully assess the drop line so as not to damage any fences or other property.&nbsp; I was able to trim this tree by the shed easily.&nbsp; I used these lower limbs to familiarize myself with this new saw.&nbsp;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class=" wp-image-13051 aligncenter" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-tree-roots-current.jpg" alt="" width="327" height="435" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-tree-roots-current.jpg 650w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-tree-roots-current-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-tree-roots-current-545x727.jpg 545w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 327px) 100vw, 327px" /></p>
<p>There is a potential of the tool lurching with a chainsaw so it is critical that you have proper footing and are comfortable with the tool.&nbsp; I learned this while reading the user&#8217;s manual.&nbsp; ALWAYS READ THE USER&#8217;S MANUAL AND FOLLOW MANUFACTURER&#8217;S INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING YOUR POWER TOOLS.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I cut a few lower branches and spent some time cutting those into manageable lengths for disposal.&nbsp; This was great practice.&nbsp;&nbsp;One tip I can offer is this&#8230;power tools can be dangerous and you must feel comfortable with the tool.&nbsp; So practice and familiarize yourself with the tool options, speed, and operation, and all safety precautions as noted in the manual.</p>
<div class="entry-content-asset videofit"><iframe loading="lazy" title="Shopatblu Trimming Trees with Ryobi" width="720" height="405" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rQrKvieOpPA?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>
<p>&nbsp;The power of the 18&#8243; chain saw is substantially greater that the pole saw.&nbsp; It cut through 8&#8243; limbs so easily.&nbsp; Before using the powerful chain saw, watch some videos on safety and again, practice, practice, practice.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>The video below shows limb trimming with the full extension on the pole saw followed by cutting the fallen limbs for curbside placement.</p>
<div class="entry-content-asset videofit"><iframe loading="lazy" title="Familiarize yourself with Ryobi tree trimming tools!" width="720" height="405" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/MOZN-ZFdua8?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>
<p>I used the pole saw and the chain saw to trim every branch that I could reach comfortably.&nbsp; It is important NOT to reach with these tools.&nbsp; I was able to access some lower branches from the roof of the shed.&nbsp; The roof was sturdy and provided adequate footing.&nbsp; Resist the temptation to stretch beyond your comfortable reach with your tools.&nbsp; Such leads to instability and improper foot placement which can both lead to accidents.&nbsp; Safety first!</p>
<p>We will access all of the higher branches via a professional lift that we will rent later in the season.&nbsp; For now, however, the sun is shining on much of the yard and we are anxious for the grass to grow.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Before and After</strong></span></h4>
<h5><span style="text-decoration: underline;">AREA #1</span></h5>
<p>You can see how we removed all of the lower branches on this single pine tree.&nbsp; The sun now hits the grass and we should see new grass very soon!<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-13241" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pine-tree.jpg" alt="" width="900" height="572" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pine-tree.jpg 900w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pine-tree-300x191.jpg 300w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pine-tree-768x488.jpg 768w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/pine-tree-545x346.jpg 545w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></p>
<h5><span style="text-decoration: underline;">AREA #2</span></h5>
<p>I removed a good bit of the lower lying branches.&nbsp; This dramatically reduces the shade from the branches and leave on the grass.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-13243" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/back-corner-2.jpg" alt="" width="1903" height="919" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/back-corner-2.jpg 1903w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/back-corner-2-300x145.jpg 300w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/back-corner-2-1024x495.jpg 1024w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/back-corner-2-768x371.jpg 768w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/back-corner-2-1536x742.jpg 1536w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/back-corner-2-545x263.jpg 545w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/back-corner-2-1600x773.jpg 1600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1903px) 100vw, 1903px" /></p>
<h5><span style="text-decoration: underline;">AREA #3</span></h5>
<p>And this is probably the most dramatic change so far.&nbsp; I removed all of the lower branches.&nbsp; The sun hits the full grass area now!&nbsp; I will trim the top later when we have secured the rental lift.&nbsp; I don&#8217;t want to be on a 40 foot ladder using a powerful chain saw!&nbsp; Again, safety first!</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-13245" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/front-after-2.jpg" alt="" width="1850" height="1345" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/front-after-2.jpg 1850w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/front-after-2-300x218.jpg 300w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/front-after-2-1024x744.jpg 1024w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/front-after-2-768x558.jpg 768w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/front-after-2-1536x1117.jpg 1536w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/front-after-2-545x396.jpg 545w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/front-after-2-1600x1163.jpg 1600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1850px) 100vw, 1850px" /></p>
<h5><span style="text-decoration: underline;">AREA #4</span></h5>
<p>These trees are so loaded with leaves during the summer!&nbsp; I&#8217;m so glad I trimmed these up in early spring!&nbsp; Can you imagine the weight of those limbs full of leaves?&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-13251" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-trimming-trees-shed-after.jpg" alt="" width="856" height="900" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-trimming-trees-shed-after.jpg 856w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-trimming-trees-shed-after-285x300.jpg 285w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-trimming-trees-shed-after-768x807.jpg 768w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/thebluebuilding-shopatblu-ryobi-trimming-trees-shed-after-545x573.jpg 545w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 856px) 100vw, 856px" /></p>
<p>We still have alot of tree trimming to finish so stay tuned for updates!&nbsp; I will also post photos as the grass grows back into the current bare spots so make sure to check my Instagram and Facebook posts frequently.</p>
<p>And a huge thank you to Ryobi!&nbsp; They really are the best!&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<div class="yui-wk-div" style="color: #4d4d4d;"><span style="color: #797979;">Over the years, furniture resalers develop tips and tricks to get pieces quickly into shape.&nbsp; Sometimes the goal is a quick fix and sometimes it is to completely restore a piece of furniture.&nbsp; A true connoisseur of antique and vintage items have restoration at the forefront of their agenda.&nbsp; One of my secret weapons to restoring luster to old furniture is Old English Furniture Polish. &nbsp;</span></div>
</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/old-english-shop-at-blu-furniture-restore.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone  wp-image-500" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/old-english-shop-at-blu-furniture-restore.png" alt="shopatblu old english for furniture restoration" width="114" height="195"></a></div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div class="postcontent" style="color: #121111;">
<div class="yui-wk-div" style="color: #4d4d4d;"><span style="color: #797979;">I remember my mom using this as a quick fix on her mahogany Duncan Phyfe DRS. &nbsp;I was always amazed by how the scratches disappeared and the wood took on a new sheen. &nbsp;Hmmm&#8230;and all these years I thought it was Dad who instilled the &#8220;fix-it&#8221; bug in me&#8230;interesting!</span></div>
<div class="postcontent yui-wk-div" style="color: #4d4d4d;">
<p><span style="color: #797979;">Old English comes in many forms including a <a href="https://amzn.to/3VQGpCQ" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">lemon oil</a>.&nbsp; I use the dark woods version on walnut, mahogany, most cherry wood and darker maple and pecan wood. &nbsp;The light formula is ideal for blonder woods like natural pine, light maple, etc.&nbsp; Either works wonders on restoring wood furniture.</span></p>
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <iframe style="width: 120px; height: 240px;" frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;OneJS=1&amp;Operation=GetAdHtml&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;source=ss&amp;ref=as_ss_li_til&amp;ad_type=product_link&amp;tracking_id=anthomdecfurd-20&amp;language=en_US&amp;marketplace=amazon&amp;region=US&amp;placement=B00622IDHC&amp;asins=B00622IDHC&amp;linkId=10447fbe37715abe6e69dd2532d38019&amp;show_border=true&amp;link_opens_in_new_window=true"></iframe>
<h2><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Two Step Process to Restore Furniture</strong></span></h2>
<p style="text-align: left;">Most furniture simply needs a good bath and a coat of <a href="https://amzn.to/3Up4qzG" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Old English</a>. &nbsp;I use warm water and <a href="https://amzn.to/3VMUQYz" rel="nofollow">Murphy&#8217;s Oil Soap</a> to clean any surface dirt from furniture. &nbsp;Murphy&#8217;s is a great way to &#8220;feed&#8221; the wood which keeps the wood from becoming dry and brittle with age. &nbsp;After it&#8217;s bath, I allow the piece to dry and then I liberally apply Old English with a cotton rag. &nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I normally apply the Old English to the rag and rub it into the wood surface.&nbsp; But for more prominent scratches you can use a very fine steel wool pad to help hide the mars.&nbsp; You will see an immediate richness in the wood as you &#8220;feed&#8221; it with the Old English. &nbsp;Be careful to get into the corners and crevices of the piece to ensure an even coat over all.</p>
<p><span style="color: #797979;">Old English is a great way to quickly restore lustre to a piece of furniture. &nbsp;It helps disguise chips, cracks and scratches. Sometimes, it is necessary to use furniture pens to disguise deeper marks and scratches&#8230;but that is a topic for another day.</span></p>
<figure><a href="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Old-English-before-and-after-2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-475 aligncenter" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Old-English-before-and-after-2-300x150.jpg" alt="shopatbly oak restored" width="506" height="253" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Old-English-before-and-after-2-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Old-English-before-and-after-2-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Old-English-before-and-after-2-624x312.jpg 624w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 506px) 100vw, 506px" /></a></figure>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="color: #797979;">This is a solid oak china cabinet. &nbsp;From the layer of crud on it, it must have been stored in a barn, garage, or basement. &nbsp;After a bath with Murphy&#8217;s Oil Soap and a slathering of Old English, this baby is ready for a new home!</span><br><span style="color: #797979;">&nbsp;</span></p>
<div class="yui-wk-div" style="text-align: center;">
<figure><a href="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/01212013-061.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-503" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/01212013-061-300x200.jpg" alt="shopatbly tiger love" width="300" height="200" srcset="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/01212013-061-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/01212013-061-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/01212013-061-624x416.jpg 624w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></a></figure>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<div class="yui-wk-div" style="text-align: left;">I realize that the before picture is pretty poor in quality but it is actually a pretty good representation of what Tiger Love looked like when she arrived at Blu. &nbsp;The after photo shows the beautifully revived wood. &nbsp;Oh yeah,,, and she is now in my kitchen!&nbsp; One of the perks of owning a store&#8230;or two!</div>
</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>

<figure><a href="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/shopatblu-entry-french-vintage-chair-and-china-cabinet-restore-finish.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1245" src="https://www.shopatblu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/shopatblu-entry-french-vintage-chair-and-china-cabinet-restore-finish-224x300.jpg" alt="shopatblu french china cab entry" width="224" height="300"></a></figure>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div class="yui-wk-div" style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #797979;">While furniture polish does not completely restore an antique, it is an excellent source for feeding wood and adding luster back to neglected pieces. Coupled with a Murphy&#8217;s Oil Soap bath, this is a tried and true method to revive old furniture.</span></div>

<p>Here is one of the many drawers in a bedroom suite that my parents bought new when they were first married back in 1961. I recently gave this glorious MCM set a facelift. The wood was very dry so it soaked up all of the Old English and really took on a refreshed look.</p>
