It is almost time for the final reveal of my Dining Room Reclaimed! I had a wonderful surprise last week when my contractor called and said he had an opening to install our Luxury Vinyl Plank floors! We’ve had the floors for several months but install was delayed due to Covid-19 induced scheduling nightmares.

I thought I would share a sneak preview of the dining room so far.

New Dining Room Floors

The floors, like our kitchen are Life Proof Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring from Home Depot. We selected Tupelo Oak which has a rustic feel with both grey and brown highlights. What fun it was to rip up those 20+ year old carpets.

Thrift Store China Cabinet Makeover

As I revealed earlier in my Week 3 post, I had this thrift store china cabinet left over from when I closed The Blue Building Antiques. The glass needed to be reinstalled and she needed new paint. You can read about how I transformed her. Here she is loaded with my crystal and glassware.

My Grandmother’s China Cabinet

I am so fortunate to have inherited my grandmother’s tiger oak early 1900’s china cabinet. I finally have a place to display my beautiful china that belonged to my friend’s grandmother.

Curtains for the Dining Room

For some reason I felt I needed to sew my own curtains. So I found some beautiful fabric at a local store and went to work. I still have two panels to finish. The photos in this post show the first two. I am finishing up the details and will hang them later today.

Dry Bar

We recently renovated our kitchen. My goal is to keep the beautiful Corian counters clear. This is a struggle for me. So I decided to dedicate a space in the dining room for a beverage station. I have a nice collection of vintage crystal decanters and bar ware. I selected this pieced of furniture which seemed perfect because of the marble top. I am currently deciding whether to go with either a dark stain to match my table, chairs and buffet or a solid colorful paint.

And finally I am at the fun stage where I get to decorate the walls and select the accessories to really finish this room. One area I am excited to decorate is the wall over the buffet. Mirror or no mirror? Artwork? Landscape?

So many possibilities are running through my head. Should I use family photos? Or artwork? Hmm…see you next week with the final reveal!
